What the eufy Indoor Cam 2K can offer us?
2K HD Resolution
The resolution of common smart cameras almost all use 1080p HD level, but this series of cameras provide 2K high-quality resolution, you can see more details of the video; but this function is only available with eufy’s own App, if you The camera is added to HomeKit and only supports up to 1080p.
The 2K HD resolution perfectly complemented the camera’s ability to digitally zoom up to eight times.
Wide Viewing Angle
The eufy Indoor Cam 2K also boasts a 125-degree viewing angle. For reference, we generally recommend a viewing angle of at least 120 degrees. So how wide an area can eufy Indoor Cam 2K monitor? Well, it depends on how you place it.
Clear night vision
Built-in 8 infrared LEDs, the night vision distance can reach up to 10 meters, with a high-resolution camera lens, it can still maintain clear video quality at night. The invisible infrared light they emit illuminates our living rooms only for the camera's image sensor. While it turns video into black and white, for us it's better than color night vision, which uses visible light sources. Thermal imaging cameras are less likely to be discovered and destroyed by thieves. In the event of a break-in, we want our cameras to see the burglar's face, not the other way around.
Two-way voice chat
Almost most of the smart cameras have the function of supporting two-way voice communication, which is similar to the function of telephone amplification. We can use it to speak through the speaker of the camera, saying "I found you!" and so on. or "We're calling the police!". However, this function is currently limited to the use of its own App. If you use the Apple Home App, you can only hear the sound from the camera side, and cannot transmit the audio.
Built-in AI chip
The smart camera has a built-in AI chip, which can identify the captured image as a person, animal or vehicle locally; eufy's built-in App can be selected in the motion detection setting option to send a notification when the image captures a person, pet or other movement Or start recording; or turn on sound recognition, you can choose any sound or baby crying to send a notification or start recording. If a memory card is inserted, it can be displayed in the event list whether the stored video is a sound-triggered video or a motion-triggered video.
communicate with pets
This function is mainly accomplished by using a custom motion detection area with an AI chip to determine whether it is a pet. When the pet moves to the custom area, the camera will notify the user and emit a pre-recorded sound, and then the user will Decided how to talk to pets.
eufy Indoor Cam 2K has artificial intelligence that can distinguish between people and pets. It told us exactly whether it was seeing a person or a pet. We also have full control over what kind of notifications are sent to our smartphones. We can simply turn off pet notifications when we only want to receive person alerts. It also works the other way around when we only want to receive alerts related to Tucker. Monitoring our pets' activities is one of the ways we keep them safe, especially when we're away.
Smart Audio Detection
The eufy Indoor Cam 2K also uses its artificial intelligence to alert us to unusually loud sounds. It has been specially trained to listen to the cries of babies. It reminds us when we have a video of a crying baby on TV, so for parents, the eufy Indoor Cam 2K can also be used as a baby monitor.
built-in siren
Built-in siren sound effect, when the user finds that there is an outsider intruding in the home, the siren sound effect can be turned on manually remotely to drive away the intruder.
After selecting “Alarm” in the camera view window, click “OK” to manually turn on the alarm sound.
smart home
eufy Indoor Cam 2K's clear camera and AI smart pet area alarm function really attract us, I am a serious smart home enthusiast, and it also left a deep impression on us smart home enthusiasts. That's because it integrates with the major voice assistants: Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri, and HomeKit.
With these integrations we can control the eufy Indoor Cam 2K with our voice. Through Alexa, we watched the live feed of the camera on the Amazon Echo Show.
Finally, a month after we bought the camera, eufy sent out a firmware update that activated its HomeKit compatibility. Thanks to an update, we added the eufy Indoor Cam 2K to our iPhone's Home app and can watch live by commanding Siri. HomeKit also improves the privacy of our cameras by adding end-to-end encryption and giving us 10 days of additional cloud storage for our videos (also known as HomeKit Secure Video).
Where Do Recorded Videos Go?
The eufy Indoor Cam 2K gave us several options for video storage.
Eufy Cloud Subscriptions | Local Recording | HomeKit Secure Video | Real-Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) | |
Cost Per Month | $2.99 for one camera, $9.99 for up to 10 cameras | $0.00 | $2.99 for one camera, $9.99 for up to five cameras | $0.00 |
Requirements | Subscription to the service | Micro-SD card up to 128 GB (not included) | HomeKit hub and iCloud subscription | A Network-Attached Storage (NAS) and technical knowledge on how to set up RTSP |
Storage | 30-day video history | Up to 128 GB (about two days of 2K HD videos) | 10-day video history | Depends on the capacity of your Network-Attached Storage (NAS) drive |
What videos are stored? | Motion or sound-activated event videos | 24/7 continuous recordings | Motion or sound-activated event videos | 24/7 continuous recordings |
Cons of Each Option On It’s Own | Lowers resolution to 1080p | No backup storage if camera is stolen | Requires HomeKit and a monthly fee | Footage stored separately from the camera and more difficult to set up |
First, we subscribed to eufy's cloud storage plan. The $2.99 per month plan gives us 30 days of event history for one camera, while the $9.99 plan allows for up to 10 cameras. The cloud plans are affordable, and the storage we access through the mobile app is easy to use. However, it can only store video up to 1080p HD, so we didn't take full advantage of the camera's 2K HD resolution.
To take full advantage of the 2K HD resolution, we recommend the local recording option to a micro-SD card, which can record up to 128 GB of video, which equates to about two days' worth of 2K footage. We don't need to pay a monthly fee for this option, and best of all, it records continuously 24/7, not just sports events. However, our only concern is that if a thief saw our camera and stole it, we would have no video evidence since the micro SD card was already in the camera.
There are several other storage options as well. First up is HomeKit Secure Video, which is free to anyone with a HomeKit hub (iPad, Apple TV, or HomePod) and a $2.99 or $9.99 monthly iCloud subscription. The former offers 10 days of video history for a single camera, while the latter offers cameras with two to five cameras. Both add end-to-end encryption between our cameras and Apple devices, among other special features.
The last option is RTSP or Real Time Streaming Protocol, a protocol that allows cameras to stream to Network Attached Storage (NAS). We chose not to test this option due to the complexity of the setup and our lack of a NAS.
Installing and using Eufy Solo IndoorCam C24
Although the eufy Indoor Cam 2K has a lot to offer, it's surprisingly simple to set up. The process involves only a few steps.
First, we downloaded the app and created a eufy account.
We then followed the app's instructions on how to add a new camera. We plug in the camera, scan the QR code, and enter our Wi-Fi password. Once the camera is up and running, all that's left to do is place the camera.
We had no trouble mounting the camera on the wall thanks to its minimalist design and all the mounting hardware included, like the two-meter power cord and swivel bracket. Or simply place it on a table or shelf.
How does the mobile application work?
Any good smart product is inseparable from an easy-to-use app, and the eufy Security mobile app played a vital role in our test. It can provide real-time feedback and notifications that I have set to record, and can remotely control the camera, allowing me to know everything anytime, anywhere. More importantly, we use the app to fine-tune the camera’s settings.
The APP designer added a lot of strategies for us to choose and set. We first configured the notification. We decide if we want to be notified of people, pets, or both, then we set a longer alert interval so pets aren't running around and playing too often and we also use the app to customize the camera's three There are several scenarios: at home, going out, and disabled. You can explore and use it according to your own situation.
Final word
The eufy Indoor Cam 2K packs features we usually only see in more expensive cameras, like its 2K HD resolution and AI-powered motion and sound detection. So, in terms of value, the eufy Indoor Cam 2K is worth more than its $40 sticker price. It certainly gives more expensive 2K HD cameras like the Arlo Pro 3 a run for their money.
We think the eufy Indoor Cam 2K is especially good for pet owners because of its customizable pet commands, pet detection, and activity zones. But really, anyone looking for a smart and affordable indoor cam (with or without pets) should check out the eufy Indoor Cam 2K. This versatile camera might be just what you're looking for.
