Wyze Cam v3 Review

We spent over 2 weeks testing the Wyze Cam v3 wireless security camera.

The Wyze Cam 3 and Wyze Cam v2 are the best home security cameras for two reasons: They work well and are cheap. Wyze is back with the Wyze Cam v3 with several improvements, including water resistance, color night vision, and better mounting options. Best of all, the Wyze Cam v3 is priced the same as previous generations: just around $30. Outstanding features, price, and quality made it the best-selling home security camera in the nation at one point

Despite its cheap price, it has the list of standard features we were looking for, like 1080p video, two-way audio, and some easy ways to mount it to a wall or to a shelf.

It works indoors and outdoors with a white weatherproof housing and 6ft cable. The designers took into account the different installation scenarios of the user, and thanks to these features, we were able to easily move it inside and outside to test it at home.

Video and Audio quality

The Wyze Cam v3 provides a clear picture inside, outside, day, night or any combination of the four. With 1080p HD video and color night vision, the Wyze Cam v3 is durable enough to see your surroundings clearly. It's easy to see people, monitor pets, and keep an eye on what's going on. It also has a responsive motion tracker that can track any movement on the screen, but the v3 doesn't pan or tilt like the Wyze Cam Pan.

Night vision is also good; it's clear and easy to understand. You can effortlessly see who's eating pizza at midnight, or who's urinating at random.

Color night vision

Color night vision is impressive, with good color and better clarity. It's perfect for covering small areas like front access or interior entryways. But when the camera is outside, it only seems to show up half the time, but keep in mind that you lose some range, the key ingredient is light.

If you want to see your dark garden further away, be sure to anchor your Wyze Cam within range of a street light or other light source. We found regular night vision to be more reliable. You can switch between the two in the app.

Audio quality

Audio is mediocre; I can hear what I'm saying at about 8 feet from the camera, but it's very confusing. You can recognize words and even have conversations, but it's certainly not high quality.

The recording is really messy when we speak through the camera. Unfortunately, this is a very common weakness of the cameras we've tested. Possibly some feature trade-offs that have to be made in limited physical space, even our top picks, like the Reolink Argus 3 Pro, have the same problem.
