Wansview Cameras Review

Updated by Alexia on

We reviewed each Wansview camera after we got it and used it for several weeks and read customer manuals and read customer reviews etc.

The Wansview camera is an affordable alternative, WiFi home indoor camera for babies/pets/nanny that replaces big brand cameras like Nest or Arlo while offering many of the same features.

The cameras (Q5, Q6, W4, and W6) have clear video, features like motion detection, good night vision, and are very easy to set up and install.

Camera

Wansview has 4 security cameras, 2 indoor models and 2 outdoor models, all with large wide angle lenses, pan, tilt and 4x digital zoom. You'll find the same 1080p streaming quality, advanced night vision, and motion detection in both the indoor and outdoor cameras. The camera works with two-way audio and night vision. It also supports Alexa.

Wansview security cameras provide real-time security alerts. It can automatically snap and record a 10-second video when motion is detected. The alarm video recorded by the camera can be saved to SD card and cloud. The camera can be wirelessly accessed by multiple users and allows viewing in multiple views. It also offers SD card and cloud storage up to 128GB.

Wansview indoor cameras

The Wansview 1080p Q5-series and Q6-series indoor cameras are great for young parents on a budget for less than $30, and the features are pretty much the same depending on what design you prefer.

Both cameras come with a wall mount that allows the camera to be placed on a crib and used as a video baby monitor. You can access video feeds from anywhere with Wi-Fi and talk to your kids from your phone.

Wansview Local storage

All Wansview cameras, except the 1080p W4 model, have an SD card slot with a maximum capacity of 128 GB. Everything you record will be stored on this card, not online. When the SD card is full, you can delete some useless materials or upload them to your DropBox account.

Wansview cloud storage

Like many wireless security cameras, Wansview cameras offer optional cloud storage, and the app offers a free 30-day trial when you activate the camera. If you don't have an SD card or want to record from multiple cameras, we recommend giving the cloud service a try.

Here are the cloud storage packages:

Package Number of cameras Alarm recording Monthly price Quarterly price Annual price Learn more
Basic 3 7-day alarm recording $6.99 $19.99 $69.99 View

Extended 5 7-day alarm recording $9.99 N/A $99.99 View

Wansview camera provides 3 cloud storage packages (Basic, Extended and Pro). The plan that's right for you depends on how many cameras you're adding to your system. All three plans offer the same 7-day alert history and different payment plans. But the Basic plan is the only one that allows you to pay every three months.

Sharing features

With the Wansview Cloud app you can allow multiple users and viewers to get feeds from the camera (with your permission, of course). When you need multiple pairs of glasses to look after your children, you can authorize parents, nanny and wife.

Smart home

Wansview does a great job with the smart home, connect your camera to Alexa via the Alexa app, look up the Wansview Cloud skill, then connect your devices. If you have an Echo Show or Echo Dot device, you can also access Wansview Live from your smart speaker.

You can ask Alexa to show you footage from any of your cameras. Just ask Alexa to "show living room" or "show garden". The name will vary depending on the camera name you set. In short, it only takes a few steps to call up the lens you want to see.

App

A good security camera product experience must have a good App for interaction.

Wansview can be operated through the Wansview application:

  • Save videos and screenshots to your phone so you can share them anytime.
  • Adjust basic camera settings (motion detection, sensitivity and alerts, etc.).
  • Turn up or down the speaker volume.
  • Change the image rotation if the camera is mounted on a wall or ceiling.

The Q6 camera has a wider range of motion than the Q5, and the 1080P Full HD camera can watch clear videos. The Q6 Indoor Camera features a large wide-angle lens, pan, tilt, and 4x digital zoom to see 350° around and up to 90° tilt. None of your camera position will prevent you from seeing everything.

During use, I deliberately tested the pan, tilt, and zoom (PTZ) function through the app to test the sensitivity of the camera movement, and only slightly made some motor speed sounds. But the sound is not loud, and although there is some slight delay in the video picture, there is nothing abnormal.

The 1080p Q5 has many of the same features as the 1080p Q6. It has the same strong night vision, Amazon Alexa compatibility, two-way talk, and local storage, but with a different look and slightly smaller field of vision.

Q5 uses infrared light. Both indoor cameras can see up to 12 feet away in low light and total darkness. Indoor cameras with these lights don’t emit a red glow at night that may disturb your kids’ naps or tip an intruder off to a camera’s presence.

The Wansview W6 and Wansview W4 outdoor security cameras have many similar features, but the 1080p W6 is even better. This outdoor camera has two-way talk, SD storage, and a slightly higher weatherproof rating (IP66 vs. IP65).

It also costs $10 more than the W4, and that extra $10 gets you two-way talk. You can use this to warn of unknown objects and say hello to the delivery man.

The Wansview W4 outdoor camera uses 24 powerful LED bulbs to see in the dark and detect motion at night or during the day. While it doesn't pan and tilt like Wansview's indoor cameras, it has a wide 105° field of view to see your entire yard, sidewalk or property. Not bad for an outdoor camera under $40.

Wansview customer service and support

Because Wansview serves multiple countries, the company has unique customer service hours. Americans can call Wansview for support between 6 p.m. 3 a.m. PST — it's late night and early morning for most of the US. If calling customer service after dinner doesn't sound like a great way to end the day, you can ask a question via email or Skype Wansview.

Wansview contracts and warranties

Wansview cameras come with a one-year limited warranty and a 30-day money back guarantee. And there’s no contract required to use a Wansview camera, the Wansview Cloud app, or the cloud service.

You can find more details on Wansview’s Terms of Service page.

Wyze cameras are the cheapest, followed by Wansview cameras. Both indoor and outdoor cameras are under $50, and you can buy multiple outdoor cameras at a discount.

Wansview also offers better privacy options. With popular cloud-based devices like Nest and Ring under fire for camera security breaches, home shoppers need to feel safer using local SD card storage for cameras.

Final word

Whether they're watching your kids play or keeping an eye on your porch and backyard, Wansview cameras are a reliable and affordable option. Although the camera is good, there will be some bad experiences in the Wansview Cloud app we use, and there is also the time issue of after-sales service.

If you're moving into a new home, Wansview is a low-risk option worth considering. Of course, you can also refer to other brands we recommend for you above.
